June 26th, 2008 - frazzled and bedazzled — LiveJournal
No time for this, but it must to be said: how is it even possible to deal with people who seem to be not only a few flowers short of a bouquet, but also take no pride in their work product? For myself, if I had ONLY ONE THING TO DO as my job, I would try to do that one thing in a way that would inspire trust and confidence in other people. I would try to make other people think, "Oh, they do this all day long, so it makes sense that they do a great job with it." I wouldn't approach that one thing like a 3rd grader anxious to zip through his homework so he could go outside and play with friends.

I don't understand the mindset. I can't respect that way of thinking. And it's making my work life utterly miserable because I have to perform quality control and nitpick other people's mistakes. Not only do I consider it a waste of my time to have to review such easy (yet important) work for accuracy, I consider the presumption on my time an insult. Because, YES, I DO HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO.

Gaaah and Grrr. If you don't like the job, quit. If you intend to accept a paycheck for it, take some damn pride in your output and do it right.

ETA: It might also behoove the person who has made several mistakes with an easy project to NOT send a questionnaire asking about what someone thinks about her work just a few moments after having had even more mistakes pointed out to her. Because, really? Do you want my opinion RIGHT NOW when the idiocy is all so fresh in my mind? Jeebus! What is wrong with people?
